Original Letter of Intent

October 21, 2008

Hello Folks!

After obtaining a journalism degree, I worked as a newspaper reporter with a nose for news and newsprint in my blood. Since my youth, I have wanted to write my own column, be a Chicago Tribune -style columnist like Mike Royko or the Carey figure on the television show “Sex In the City.” Yet here I am, middle-aged, and still have not managed to find a publication that would have me.

So considering my waning youth and current state of technology, I decided that there is only one way to make this happen and that is to publish myself, on the world wide web, no less. I have started a monthly (or more) column that is my take on being, in the words of President Barack Obama, “a citizen of the world.”

The column will provide information, issues, topics and opinions that relate to being a member of the global community from my humble perspective. In it, I will endeavor to inform, stimulate, intrigue, and interest you. I am hopeful that my contribution will be of value to you and inspire you.

I welcome your feedback and suggestions and would appreciate you forwarding it on or referring those you think may benefit from it.  Email me if you want to be added to my email “subscriber” list and inform me if you want to be removed from it.  Be assured that this is my private list, that I shall not share.

I greatly appreciate your interest and participation as well as emailed feedback. May my column evolve to an ever better, higher, greater level. Thank you.

In all sincerity,
Christina Hazelwood

Welcome

Welcome

Yes, this is the place to apply to be our video blogger -- wait, make that vlogger. As you can see, we're a little quirky and unique -- and we'll be looking for those qualities in your posts. We want to see your personality -- and what you have to offer to our audience that's going to entertain, inform and keep them coming back for more.

Clearly, you'll have to be passionate about doing this -- which doesn't mean you have to be hyper; just be your authentic self. And by yourself, we mean that part of your self that translates well to video. Something fresh and unique. It might include wit, wisdom, sarcasm -- or a blend. Or not.

You decide. Then we'll decide who's going to be our vlogger. And we want to make our choice as soon as possible -- though, of course, that depends on you. And what our audience thinks.

After all, you'll really be working for them.
